নিজস্ব প্রতিবেদক : দৈনিক যায়যায়দিন’র লক্ষ্মীপুরের রামগতি উপজেলা প্রতিনিধি হেলাল উদ্দিন রাশেদ খাঁন (৬৫) সড়ক দুর্ঘটনায় নিহত হয়েছেন। রোববার সন্ধ্যায় উপজেলার রামগতি-আজাদনগর সড়কের বাঁধেরহাট এলাকায় এ দুর্ঘটনা ঘটে। এ ঘটনায় জমির উদ্দিন নামে আরও এক ব্যক্তি আহত হয়েছেন। গুরুতর আহত অবস্থায় তাকে ঢাকা মেডিক্যাল কলেজ হাসপাতালে ভর্তি করা হয়েছে। নিহত রাশেদ উপজেলার চর আলেকজান্ডার ইউনিয়নের চর ডাক্তার এলাকার মৃত জয়নাল আবদিনের ছেলে।
চর পোড়াগাছা ইউনিয়ন পরিষদের চেয়ারম্যান নুরুল আমিন হাওলাদার জানান, আজাদনগর এলাকার পল্লী চিকিৎসক জমির উদ্দিনসহ যায়যায়দিন প্রতিনিধি রাশেদ মোটরসাইকেলে করে উপজেলার গুচ্ছগ্রাম এলাকায় যাচ্ছিলেন। ওই সময় সড়কের পাশের বালুর স্তুপে তাদের মোটরসাইকেলটি নিয়ন্ত্রণ হারিয়ে পড়ে যায়। এতে মোটরসাইকেল আরোহী রাশেদ এবং চালক জমির গুরুতর আহত হলে স্থানীয়রা তাদেরকে উদ্ধার করে নোয়াখালী জেনারেল হাসপাতালে নিয়ে যান। এ সময় কর্তব্যরত চিকিৎসক রাশেদকে মৃত ঘোষণা করেন এবং অবস্থার অবনতি ঘটনায় জমিরকে ঢাকায় প্রেরণের পরামর্শ দেন।
রামগতি থানার ভারপ্রাপ্ত কর্মকর্তা (ওসি) মোহাম্মদ সোলাইমান ঘটনার সত্যতা নিশ্চিত করেছেন।
